Yttrium-90
High energy beta radiation emitter with a relatively short penetration range in tissues (about 2.5 mm) and a half-life of 64 hours. Used in various radiotherapy treatments, including Y90 microspheres radioembolization for combatting HCC. Capable of precise targeting of tumours with minimal collateral damage to healthy tissues.
Actinium-225
Alpha radiation source with a high linear energy transfer (LET) over a short range, extremely effective at damaging cancer cells while minimizing harm to surrounding healthy tissue during Targeted Alpha Therapy (TAT).
Strontium-89
This therapy is used for the treatment of huge osseous metastases in prostate carcinoma.
